Have you tried a bunch of at home date nights and are looking to change things up a bit? A while ago I stumbled upon Hunt A Killer, who offer murder mystery at home boxes and, seriously, I think they are a really great discovery and I need to spread the word about them more!
In case you’ve missed it:
A) I used to review date night subscription boxes pretty regularly. I know what I’m talking about here. 🙂
B) I previously reviewed a Hunt A Killer box, but Kyle and I have slowly been working through subsequent boxes (that we bought & paid for ourselves, I might mention, these reviews are legit!)
C) We just finished box 3 of their Class of 1998 mystery.
D) If you scroll down to the bottom of this post, I’m doing a giveaway! Be sure to check it out and maybe you can win!!
If you haven’t yet, you really should read my first Hunt A Killer review.
Last night, Kyle and I finished Box 3, or “Episode 3” as HAK likes to call it. As a reminder, here are the things I love most about HAK:
1) THE DETAILS!!!!
Look, I don’t want to be all blah, blah, my husband & I understand what makes good story better than most people, blah, blah blah, but truthfully – as writers, we do kind of know what it takes to tell a good story and what good entertainment value is, and yes, we can tell when a story is overly simplistic and when it is truly well thought out and good. And these boxes are GOOD.
The creators have spent so much time in the details. From news article clippings, to yearbook inscriptions, to online folders that can only be accessed with passwords – this is quality stuff. Kyle and I have been impressed with every box we’ve done so far.
2) The price.
Subscriptions start at $25/month, which, for date night/subscription boxes out there, is pretty affordable. If you’re one of those people to be like “I’m paying $25+/month and all I get is a bunch of paper!” then you are entirely missing the point. Hunt A Killer murder mystery at home boxes are an immersive experience that you get to play along with. There is nothing else out there like these! $25 for a date night at home after the kids are in bed and problem solving/doing something unique together? That’s a good deal!
3) Can I mention again the details??
Because really, the details of this thing are not to be overlooked. I love the innovation of a new form of entertainment. With so many streaming services offered now, as well as online entertainment – I LOVE that these Hunt a Killer murder mystery at home boxes offer something new and unique.
4) I’ve been talking about these boxes in terms of a “date night”, but really, they are not limited to couples. Anyone can enjoy them! Couples, singles, groups, whoever!
Ok, ok, ok. I’m not going to harp on the greatness of these boxes any longer. If you haven’t checked them out yet, you should.

Because I am obsessed with this subscription service game thing-a-ma-bob. and because I am a retired housewife (meaning i’ve been a stay at home mom so long, that my kids outgrew my house) it’s just me and the animals now.. we would have so much fun playing this….plus I love unboxing stuff… plus I always wanted to be an FBI agent before life made me a mom.. plus.. well.. I love WINNING
My sister and me love thrillers and true crime stories-we with our love solving this on a Saturday night.

Sounds like a fun – recurring ‘game night’ session… with an open invite to extended family that likes to do escape rooms.
This is such a unique idea, and you opened my world to date night subscription boxes! Murder mysteries are so interesting, and my hubby and I would have so much fun with this!
