L.A. Life

My Husband’s Name Is Kyle. & Happy 5th Blogiversary To The Screenwriter’s Wife!

Oh Valentine’s Day. It’s ironic that that’s the day when I began this blog. 5 years ago today. How things change. How we all grow. For better or worse. For BOTH better and worse.

Many people start blogs. I’m not original in that. Some start blogs to make money. Some start blogs as a personal creative outlet. Some start blogs because they feel compelled to write and feel that they can’t help but do anything but. Read more…

Why Having Three Kids is Hard, Why I’m Losing My Mind…and Why I’m Ok With It.

Y’all, it’s been a summer. A long summer. Having three kids is hard. I love them a million times each, I do. But. Goodness gracious.

A couple years ago, some friends of ours, who’d just had their third child, jokingly gave KP and I some advice. “Don’t have a third kid”, they joked.

They were probably only HALF joking.  Read more…

Why I’m Planning To Have a Home Birth. Yes, For the Third Time.

You know how when you’re talking to someone you’ve just met, and your conversation follows the usual social mores about weather or occupations or where you’re from originally, or whatever? Well, if you’re a mom of littles and you’re conversing with another mom of littles, at some point, you talk about your birth experience(s).

NOT because we’re all trying to secretly judge each other (not all moms are as vindictive and petty as all the online magazines and mom blog articles like to portray us, ok?) – but because the process of giving birth is typically, like, a pretty big deal event to a woman. And talking about our birth stories with other women – who actually get why we have this crazy strong need to have to talk about them – somehow creates this weird motherly and womanly unifying bond of having been in the trenches together.

So yes, I kind of like hearing birth stories. No matter how they happened.

Even still, I always get a; bit, um, cautious, when it comes to how to approach my previous birth stories or current birth plans when in conversation. I find myself reading the crowd carefully before I start sharing too much.  Read more…

How to Enjoy Las Vegas With Young Kids In Tow

We just got back from a quick 2-night stay in Las Vegas. Yes, with our two young kids. Yes, and while I’m pregnant.

Though Vegas might not initially seem the prime vacation spot in our given situation, it ended up being a perfect trip for us. And it could be for you too – just because you have young kids (or don’t or can’t drink) it doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy a Vegas Vacation and I’m here to show you how you can do it too!  Read more…

My Journey to Having A Third Kid

So I’m pregnant and having a third kid. I’ve already got a daughter and son. Why in the world would I want another kid? Here’s my journey to how I got here.

I’m the oldest of 6 kids. I grew up in a community where most families had at least 2 children, and families of 4 or more were fairly common. I always assumed I’d have my own kids one day because, well, it’s all I really knew. However, though I liked the idea of my kids having lots of siblings like I did, I also knew how much work kids were and I didn’t want to do the work of raising a bunch of kids myself, lol, so I figured my own family one day would be a bit smaller.

Fast forward many years to KP and I seriously dating. Read more…

Peck Family 2016 Christmas Vegas Vacation

If you know me, you probably think I’m one of the last people ever to enjoy Las Vegas. I mean, I like eating and drinking and hanging out by the pool and all that – but I’m not really a huge fan of crowds and loud music and the party scene. However, for some reason, I really like Las Vegas. In small doses of course.

Having kids has changed the way we’re able to do Vegas, but that hasn’t stopped us from making the 4-5 hour trip out there from L.A. I went once when pregnant with my daughter, once when she was a baby, once when my son was a baby, and now we just went again this week with both kids AND with being pregnant.  Read more…

Affecting the Smaller Moments to Make a Bigger Difference for Marriage

(I’m no grammar shark, but I *believe* that “affecting” is the proper word in the title, right? Not ‘effecting’. If I’m wrong, someone please **politely** correct me and I’ll fix it, ok?) A few weeks ago, I received an email inviting me to be part of an affiliate program for a website that specializes in providing […] Read more…

A “Post Pictures of my May 2016 Garden” Break – before my lovely children and lack of focus make me lose my mind

I’ve been majorly behind on posting new posts lately. I’ve got a million ideas about things to write about, but ugh, that’s exactly my problem – too many things in my head at once. At all times.  I gotta work on this focus thing. You know one thing that always brings me back into balance […] Read more…

Ashley Madison tv show

The Ashley Madison TV Show & The Good That Could Have Been

I live in a weird part of the world. I juggle convictions and morals in an environment that often seems incompatible with them. I struggle with what to say and how to say it and what I’m allowed to say. Even with its weirdness, however, I still value the confidentiality of this entertainment business and respect the need to keep bits of information I’ve gathered here and there to myself. Often my random knowledge wouldn’t really matter to anyone else, but every once in a while I’ve been privy to things that give me a different perspective of an issue that the rest of the world is not able to see.

You know the whole Ashely Madison thing? Where all the user email addresses of the infidelity website were hacked and released? Of course you do; it was all over the news and the topic of many articles and blog posts and vitriol. Well, what you don’t know is that KP and I have a history with Ashley Madison. Ok, well, KP has the history – but as his wife and as it’s something we’ve discussed in depth, I have a history with it too. Read more…

Making Saul Goodman

What is it called when you write a bunch of twitter posts all in a row, continuing one sentence onto the next tweet, over and over in order to tell a longer story or thought? Whatever it’s called, that’s what I just did. Who knows why I wrote it on twitter instead of a blog post, but for some reason, it just flowed that way better.

Anyway, since I’m all about cross posting on multiple social media platforms – and because I’m sure that no one is reading my twitter feed in the middle on the night and will catch it – here is my recent tweet stream: Read more…
