2019 Ultimate HOMEMAKING Bundle Review - Don't Buy It. Or Do.I have reviewed MANY of these Ultimate Bundles over the years. This is my FOURTH year in a row to review the Ultimate Homemaking Bundle.

At some point, possibly sooner than later, I’m probably going to cease reviewing them. Because really? I put a lot of time into them without much return. But I do like helping all of you. 🙂

I halfway considered not even reviewing this one, UNTIL…one bonus stood out to me. So THANK YOU TO YOU NEED A BUDGET! (see below for my review). Please note, I unfortunately did not have the time to do a very extensive review this time around! But I hope to give you a general overall sense so that you can make the best decision for yourself.

Ok – on to the review, but first, some announcements:

1) As with all my bundle reviews, I strongly suggest that you start HERE: Are the Ultimate Bundles Legit? Scam? Amazing Deal? Or Marketing Ploy? where I answer most of the burning questions about how these things really work.

2) I did not individually review very many products in this 2019 Ultimate Homemaking Bundle. If you are interested in a product that I have not yet reviewed, email me or leave a comment below and I will try to get to it asap!

3) I now review on a 5 star ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ system based on:
Value (if I think it’s worth the price they claim)
Quality (if the product seems to be well-made, professional, appropriate page length)
Coolness (if I personally think the product is cool or applicable to *me* specifically ?)

4) If you buy the Ultimate Productivity Bundle on 5/1-5/2, there is an Early Bird Bonus. (see here for details)

5) There’s a lot of religious/Christian resources in the Ultimate Homemaking Bundle every year (I try to note these where possible) – and now this year, you can also upgrade to an ADDITIONAL Invest In Your Faith mini bundle for $$. Depending on what you’re looking to get out of the bundle, this might be a good thing or bad thing for you.

Overall, what’s MY opinion of this years Ultimate Homemaking Bundle? Eh. I liked a couple things, but tbh, I really only bought this bundle for the YNAB/You Need A Budget bonus (scroll down to the bottom for review). ? I already use YNAB and love it so it alone was worth the bundle price to me.

But should YOU buy the 2019 Ultimate Homemaking Bundle?
Your call.

Here’s why you might WANT to buy the Ultimate Homemaking Bundle:

  • You really like all the topics below…or at least enough of them to make the bundle worth it.
  • You believe you’ll actually use at least $50 worth of the resources
  • You’re an Evangelical/Protestant Christian, or if not, are at least willing to gloss over the large faith/bible study/devotional sections.
  • You have the discretionary funds to spend $30 on something “fun” like this.

Here’s why you might NOT want to buy the Ultimate Homemaking Bundle:

  • You already bought a recent years’ Homemaking Bundle (links: 2016, 2017 , 2018) AND don’t see anything new you need in this year’s (there’s a few things new, like a larger homeschooling & parenting section, but other sections are not drastically different).
  • You’re not an Evangelical Christian AND you find it hard to skip over the faith/bible study/devotional stuff (heads up: there’s a lot – I think the bundle creators assume that most of their audience is Christian. ? )
  • You’re on a tight budget and don’t really need to spend $30 on a non-necessity right now.

And now for the 2019 Ultimate Homemaking Bundle review!

For Kids

  • 101 Screen-Free Ideas: Printable Activity Cards by Julie McCorkle ($8.00) (Printable)
  • Chore Board Printable Pack by Jessica Evans ($10.00) (Printable)
  • Happy Journal for Kids by Jennie Moraitis ($8.98) (Workbook) – 36pgs.
It looks cute. But really? It’s just a bunch of blank pages, some with prompts, for kids to color on.

    Quality: ⭐⭐⭐
    Coolness: ⭐

  • Kids Command Center by Laura Rizer ($4.99) (Printable) – 18pgs.
I liked this one. Simple, but if you’re looking for some good routine printables that you can hang up so kids can easily see what’s expected of them each day – these would work well.
    Value: ⭐⭐⭐
    Quality: ⭐⭐⭐
    Coolness: ⭐⭐⭐

  • Kids Mindfulness Package: Flashcards and Coloring Pages by Laura Durenberger ($7.00) (Printable) – 23pgs.
I like the cards themselves and the questions on them. But there’s only 5 pictures/prompts, and a good third of this .pdf was taken up by instruction pages alone. The coloring pages weren’t anything special either. So idk, I like the idea of this, but wouldn’t use it. If they greatly improved it to focus on just the cards (and made the cards a more practical size, like 1/4 page, instead of full page each) then it’d probably be something I’d like & use.

  • Kids Sorted: 100+ Printables for a Calm and Happy Home by Karen Schravemade ($59.00) (Printable) – 229 pgs.
This comes in both letter-size & A4 size. For those of you in countries that use A4 paper, I thought you’d appreciate that. ? I’m pretty partial to THIS chore chart on Amazon, (***which I’m doing a FLASH GIVEAWAY for! See HERE to enter!**) but I really like this Kids Sorted one too! Very thorough, very colorful, I like the chore icons; it seems to have EVERYTHING you might need to get a chore and schedule system setup in your house. While $60 does seem a bit pricey, then again, I did spend a similar on the Neatlings Chore System, so I can’t knock the price toooo much (though I do think that the Neatling system is nicer just because you don’t have to print anything out and it comes to you all ready to implement).

    Value: ⭐⭐⭐
    Quality: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
    Coolness: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
  • Picture Word Cards by Jennifer Pepito ($5.00) (Printable) – 44pgs.
I like these, I think they are simple and educational. My only note is that you’d want to be sure to have a photo printer or a high enough quality printer that could print the images well. Otherwise, this resource might not be as worth it to you.

  • Science in the Kitchen: Fearless Science at Home For All Ages by Susan K. Stewart ($4.95) (eBook) – 58pgs
    **minor religious content**
I thought this was going to be a bunch of lesson plans, but it’s not…not really. Still, I really liked it. If you’re thinking of homeschooling science at the secondary level, this is a great read. It covers the different science disciplines and ways that you can (safely) teach each with just materials you can accumulate on your own. There’s some minor religious content, which basically consists of “talk about how God fits into chemistry” – you could very easily tailor that to talking about how your understanding of a god or higher power falls into what you’re learning. There was one small part that encouraged those who consider themselves Christians to not ignore environmental concerns and I really appreciated that. All in all, a good inclusion in the bundle.

  • Student Planner Bundle by Jolanthe Erb ($16.00) (Printable)
  • Teach Your Children “How to Think” with Mentoring by Kerry Beck ($10.00) (eBook) – 90pgs
    **heavy religious content**
I started to scroll through this, but found that it would only be suitable to a Christian audience
  • Tracing Fun Mega Bundle: Fine Motor Skill Fun for Kids by Carisa Hinson($12.00) (Printable) -197pgs
I have an incoming Kindergartner next year who needs help with the fine motor skills necessary for handwriting. So this resource is perfect for me! There’s a pretty good chance that I will print this entire thing out, put it in a binder (or maybe even get it spiral bound!) and use this regularly with my son.

(Side note here, but I REALLY need to start writing about marriage more, from a non-religious/mixed faith perspective. But I’ve been majorly struggling with time and how to fit in all my passions. I have big plans for my marriage-irl.com website and hope to get it launched in the not too far future.)

  • Intentional Love: 31 Ways to Love Your Husband/Wife with Purpose by Leah & Matt Heffner ($7.98) (eBook) – 160pgs/each
    **religious content**
I like that this comes with two booklet, one for the husband and one for the wife. However, this is probably only really appropriate for Christian couples.

  • Christmas: Sorted! The Ultimate Planner & Support to Help you Enjoy Every Part of Christmas by Chrissy Halton ($32.00) (Printable/eCourse) – 102 pgs.
Not the same person who created the Kids Sorted! program above (which I really liked); just wanted to clear that up in case anyone else was confused like I was. 🙂 Also – this is not really a printable, it makes you sign up for a course in order to access the printables. A couple people were doing this in the Productivity Bundle as well and fwiw I’m NOT a fan of this email list building tactic and REALLY hope that bloggers stop doing this. (Once you sign up for the “course” to get their product, you’re automatically added to their mailing list and they email you and try to sell you things, like, um, these Ultimate Bundles). The planner itself is eh. Honestly, the whole idea of Christmas being this thing that you have to devote 4 months of your year to in order to do properly so that you need a specific planner for? It stresses me out. Majorly. Basically, this product is not for me.

  • Discipline That Makes a Difference: Effective Discipline and Behavior Modification to Support the Parent-Child Relationship by Shelley Jefsen ($27.00) (eBook) – 117pgs.
    **very minor religious content**
I was raised in a pretty disciplined home. I thought I would do the same with my kids. I vastly underestimated the mental overwhelm of motherhood, not to mention co-parenting, and as I result I’m pretty much a failure as far as how disciplined I thought my children would be. I no longer choose to read discipline books because they all feel unrealistic. However, this once turned out to be ok. It still makes me feel like I suck as a parent because my kids don’t listen to what I say and automatically obey me
(as was expected in my home growing up)…but it wasn’t the worst I’ve skimmed through. It’s what I wish my house looked like, but doesn’t. I don’t know if that’s good or bad. In my skimming, I only saw one random paragraph w/religious content. There may be more I missed, but if so, it’s very minor and very easily skipped over.

  • Montessori Beginnings by Holly Daniel ($77.00) (eCourse)
  • Online Safety Handbook: How to Safely Navigate Social Media & The Internet by Corinne Roth ($9.99) (eBook) – 76pgs.
There’s A LOT in the world to be terrified by as a parent. I generally consider myself more of a “Free-Range” parent and choose to raise my kids to be self-sufficient and not consider every stranger or unknown an opportunity for bad things to happen. I try to be realistic; I don’t like fear-mongering and was worried that this was just going to be another “social media is bad and keep your kids sheltered from it completely” type of book. Still, I skimmed through almost this entire thing. I think it’s full of helpful information to be aware of….BUT, I also caution the other extreme and assuming that everything in the entire world is bad. Overall, I think this is a helpful addition to this bundle, but I just hope it doesn’t make modern parent anxiety even worse.

  • Seven Day Hair Challenge: Easy to learn hairstyles for busy moms! by Caroline Allen ($15.00) (eCourse)
Funny story. My ENTIRE FORAY into the world of “blogging” started when I was introduced to Pinterest in late 2011 by my sister. I was a brand new mom and for some reason started looking up cool “mom hairstyles”. I found this book, and was the very first person to leave a review. I even began to follow the author, then small-time blogger at myyellowsandbox.com, around the time she was pregnant with her second child…and now she’s like a mega influencer with 225K instagram followers. I’d like to think it’s partially become of my awesome 5-star Amazon review all those years ago. ? Anyway. Hairstyles. If only I’d capitalized on this trend all those years ago. Maybe I’d be as cool as Abby Smith now. ?
But so….the eCourse itself. Here’s my beef with it. Every video shows you how to style your hair using Lila Rose product. Now, I actually like Lila Rose and have one of their Flexi-Clips and it’s a pretty great invention. BUT, I don’t like that presumably (if you weren’t part of this bundle), you’d pay $15 for this ecourse to then be sold on even more $$ to buy the Lila Rose products, or even worse, to join their team! Look, I did Usborne books for awhile. I get the Direct Marketing/MLM thing. But to pay for a course where all you’re doing is being sold on buying more or selling more? Hmm. I don’t love that.

I started off using Exel sheets, then moved to EveryDollar, and for the past year I’ve been using You Need A Budget (YNAB). It’s a fantastic budgeting program, very thorough. It was a bit overwhelming for me at first, but after a couple months practice, I really like all that I can do with it. If you need a really awesome budgeting program – the entire bundle price is practically worth it for this bonus alone. It’s the one thing that got me to buy the bundle at all this time around, and I’m pretty excited that YNAB was included. ?

  1. I’m always so skeptical of these things, since EVERY SINGLE mommy/homeschool blog writes and tries to sell them. I feel like it’s always some kind of cult, the worst ones are the Homeschool Conference emails. Honestly, I just end up deleting them because I’m like, nah, too much of this being sent out, means they are getting paid or compensated in some way for touting this. I love your honest review and especially since I’m not into religion and I’ll admit, kinda roll my eyes at all the GOD/Jesus stuff, I really really appreciate your honesty. It renews my soul knowing that someone, even just one person, is really being honest with me. 🙂 Thank you!!

  2. Thank you for your thorough reviews. I read through each one.

    1. Does this book have religious content? Making Room, by Lucy No Bowman. The Amazon reviews show it to be interesting, even though most were written on the same day.
    2. How many quotes are included in Quote decor? Is it just 10-15 quotes?
    3. What is the Surprise Heart Attack in the marriage section?
    4. 7 simple days in self care- what is that?
    5. Curiosity question: How many people read this post already?

I teally liked the 2017 bundle that included the Healthy living, conquer your clutter, parenting. I got it when they offered it later for 2 days. There is an interesting organization course here, but I dont think I can read more! I have decluttered quite a bit here! There are quite a few files on my computer still unread, and I’ll probably give them to my kids when they grow up! The makeup course looks interesting!
I am religious, but another religion, so appreciate when you point it out as well, as no one else does.

    • 1) I just scrolled through the first 25 or pages and the last 20 or so. There was one brief mention toward the end that said something along the lines of “Make room for love in your house. God is love.” Pretty benign and from my brief assessment would be fine for non-Christians.
      2) Yeah, it’s only 10 pages or printable quote decor. 1 quote per page. 🙁
      3) It’s a bunch of hearts that you print, cut out and the “surprise” your significant other with. You can put them in a package so that they pop out when it’s opened, or tape all over the room, or whatever.
      4) I just updated the post with my quick review. It’s just a workbook. Nothing super amazing, imho.
      5) Since yesterday morning when it was posted (so ~30hrs give or take), this post has been visited 342 times. Lol

Thanks so much for commenting and for asking questions – hope this helped!! 🙂

  3. Thank you again for your open and honest review of these bundles! I’m still on the fence about it but I did find the 2018 bundle to have a few helpful things. One of the things holding me back is the cost (USD to CAD pricing for me) and another is how it makes me feel sometimes like I’m not doing enough as a SAHM already, like I always should be doing more. For example, the Christmas planner you mentioned – I find Christmas already so stressful but should I be planning more? When does the planning end and life begin? Ha, ha – enough philosophizing for me. Who am I kidding though, I find planning and crossing off lists oddly therapeutic. These bundle people really have a captive audience for the ‘planners’ like me.

  4. I love reading your bundle reviews. Every time my inbox starts getting flooded with different bloggers offering the bundle, I go straight to you to see what you think. And some years I buy it, some I don’t. And either way, I feel like I’m making an informed decision. So thank you. Thanks for all of the work and time you put into your posts!

  5. We love our Neatlings Chore Chart we got a couple years ago. The ticket system helps relieve us of always threatening to take “whatever” away. The kids no if they lose tickets, they lose on bigger opportunities (5 tickets = dessert, for instance). So it’s their choice.

  6. I’ve heard of these bundles but I’ve never purchased one. I actually had no idea they contained so much content (though it definitely seems like some of it is more useful than other parts). It’s kind of overwhelming honestly haha. I’m curious- have you ever tried more sections in the self care of meal planning related sections. Those are areas I’m trying to work on for my own sanity (though I know self care is kind of a buzzword right now…).

I’m not sure if I’ll make the jump and buy one since it does seem pretty overwhelming (and since we are not a religious family), but I’m intrigued! I’m going to take a look at your past posts about them. 🙂

    • I agree on the overwhelming part! Over the years I’ve gotten better at only focusing on the parts I care about and ignoring the rest, but sometimes I still get lost in feeling like I have to take advantage of it all. That’s why I now suggest that people try to skim through and decide which resources are things they’ll actually use. And only then, if there’s enough stuff to be worth it, to buy it.

Let me know if you have any other questions about them that I haven’t answered elsewhere!

    • What I do, and I have purchased 6 bundles in the last few years is download what seems interesting, and skim through it quickly. I immediately delete what doesnt talk to me. I haven’t read/listened to everything, but once it’s on my computer, or logged into the program, access is there permanently, so I go though some more content, as I have time.

The cheat sheets they give are also helpful. I personally got them only once, when it was offered for free. But you can get that to guide you. Even if you only listen to 5 things- it’s still beneficial, if those are things you need.

For example: my cleaning/ chore charts are a compilation from things I got in the 2017 cleaning and organization (I think, don’t remember the name) bundle, and 2018 productivity bundle.

  7. Thanks for this extensive review. The bundles always look so appealing to me, but then I don’t do anything with them except for the bonuses! You did a lot of work with this, so thank you! Quite honestly the “Around the world” stories is what is making me pause and think maybe I should go for it.

  8. This is a great review. I’m so sad I missed this bundle. I had a tab opened on my phone, then went into labor 2 weeks early and was in the hospital when the sale ended. There were 3 different PDFs I wanted, each of which costs as much as the bundle. Ugh, maybe next year.
